The Two Parts of the Car Theory Test
The multiple-choice and hazard-perception parts are booked and taken together. You must reach the pass mark in both parts.
Multiple-Choice Questions
You have 57 minutes to answer 50 questions. You can flag questions, return to them and change answers before finishing.

Hazard Perception

- Continuous or patterned clicking may score zero
- Clips cannot be replayed during the test

Book through GOV.UK to avoid unnecessary third-party charges. You need a valid provisional driving licence.

Your Result and Pass Certificate
You receive your result at the test centre. You must pass both parts. If you pass, you receive a pass certificate number used when booking your practical driving test.
